UNHCO’s primary purpose is support the development of national health systems. In its efforts to achieve this objective, UNHCO aims to provide assistance to national governments in order to alleviate suffering together by strengthening the national health system and coordinating the local programmes and projects. Health services must reach poor populations and therefore UNHCO works worldwide to provide humanitarian help for people affected by malnutrition.
The mandate of UNHCO is to raise levels of nutrition, improve medical care in emerging nations, better the lives of rural populations and contribute to the establishment of hospitals. Strengthening national health systems is a high priority for UNHCO.
